Here is one of my latest creations made with green house glass.  I’m really pleased with how it turned out. Reds are one of the trickiest colours to use successfully when working with glass. Too much heat or too little oxygen will turn a beautiful red into a muddy liver colour so it was really exciting to open the kiln and see this gorgeous scarlet.  I fired the enamel paints with an air hole open for the first two hours and opened the lid of the kiln a couple of times to make sure the oxygen levels could stay fairly high.

I’d like to make a few more poppy inspired pieces, so fingers crossed, hopefully I can do it again. I’ll have to make notes about exact temperatures and times when I lift the lid of the kiln for future reference, but at least I know it’s possible.
