This week’s glass work. I hadn’t thought I’d done much this week until I laid it all out together like this. Just goes to show how sometimes we are our own worst critic.
I’m especially pleased with these. Quotes and proverbs are one of my favourite motivational tools to get me into the zone to create. So combining it with my glass is something I really want to pursue more of. I hope they prove to be equally inspiring for others at my next show in Stirling.
I love the way engraving can add something to a simple piece of glass. All of the window hangings shown started life as something else; either green house or bottle glass but the writing was the major stumbling blocks on this project. I kept trying to use a cone shaped engraving bit, but have recently discovered a very small round head is much better. It doesn’t skip and waver around and the letters come out crisper. Quite counter intuitive to use a fatter bit to get a crisper line, but it works.
